Iris and I have been enjoying our daily opera broadcasts from the Metropolitan Opera which have been fantastic. We have recently watched Faust which is a story of how Faust sold his soul to the devil in order to obtain his youth again. I was surprised at how accurately it portrayed the devils character if not his other attributes. Yes, he appeared as a liar, deceiver and as an angel of light and he gave Faust what he asked for, but it was how he used Marguerite, a sweet innocent young girl to fulfil his purpose. Marguerite was seduced by the thoughts put into Faust’s mind by the devil to fulfil his purpose. Marguerite was an innocent but willing person doing what she thought was the right thing to do, but in this case it ended up with her losing everything, as did Faust in the end.

As I look at what is happening in the world today, I see lots of people, many in positions of power apparently doing something which they wholeheartedly believe in but as bible believing Christians we can see to be totally wrong. Are these evil people or are they unwitting tools of the devils scheming?

We are told to obey our leaders as they are in place because God has allowed it, and overall they will be doing God’s will, but no matter how convincing they are, do we know if they are getting that wisdom from God or the devil.

He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters. Luke 11:23 NKJV

Today more than ever we need to know our scriptures and to walk close to our Saviour and Redeemer.
