When the Apostle Paul, en route to Macedonia in the continuance of his ministry left Timothy in charge of the church at Ephesus, he wrote him two letters.
At the time the church was struggling with some doctrinal issues. In entrusting the work to Timothy, Paul knew the young man faced a difficult task but would not have left him to it has he had not thought Timothy was sufficient for the task.
The problem facing Timothy was very similar to that facing many church ministers and leaders today. That is – adhering to the teaching and ways of Jesus Christ whilst striving to lead a church in the midst of a society that wanted to move away from God’s teachings and enter into and practise a more liberal approach to life.
What was going on in the society of the time was also creeping into the church and Timothy was faced with the task of dealing with it.
In the UK, as I understand it, we have recently seen the resignation of one of the political party leaders because he was finding it very difficult coping with and adhering to his faith in God and the Biblical teachings that accompany it – with the demands of the political system under which the country currently stands.
Whilst The Church and The Bible call for people to follow God and His ways, Society, enlightened, as it claims, wants to move away from such belief and the conceived “rigidity” it claims it imposes upon life.
On leaving, Paul said this to Timothy in his Second Letter Ch3 v1-5 –
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the Last days. “People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive and disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God- having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them”
Joshua in the Old Testament said this in Joshua Ch24 v29 –“ If you forsake God and serve foreign gods. He will turn against you and bring disasters on you after He has been good to you”.

What we all need to realise is that rejecting and turning away from God –
IS NOT ENLIGHTENMENT it is as old as mankind…
nor is it “A NEW WAY” Man has been practising it since The Garden of Eden!!!

Rather than choosing to follow God and His way in these “supposedly progressive” Modern Days, Society in general, appears to favour a “ Taster” of what hell will be like before mankind’s final collision with God takes place.

God’s “SAT NAV” has been calling out “TURN AROUND WHEN POSSIBLE” for a long time now and as we so obviously move into what Paul calls “The Last Days”.
isn’t it a wise thing for us all to stop and take some time to look into the mirror to see not only where we stand…but also the validity of what we actually believe and what that belief is actually founded upon?

Have a refreshing, peaceful and blessed day.
